Meteorites come in many forms, each just as fascinating as the last. In our collection at Fossils UK we boast incredible, ethically sourced meteorites hand-selected directly from finders, collectors, and dig sites. Easily recognisable iron meteorites feature alongside stony meteorites and tektites and impactites, pieces of Earth that have been melted or modified by impacts of meteorites.
Where are meteorites found?
All kinds of meteorites can land anywhere on the Earth, from the Galapagos Islands to the Pacific Ocean and even your backyard. Despite this, there are a few places where meteorites are most visible and easier to spot. Desolate and dry areas make meteorites easy to spot as plants rarely grow to cover them up nor does rain cause much of a washing issue.
Antarctica, the northwest desert of Africa and the American Southwest are three prime locations for meteorite spotting due to the vast, dry lands that occupy the space.
